How long have you worked at the Hive?
I have worked for The Shoe Hive in a variety of roles since the summer of 2012.
Do you have any fun stories or memories from working here?
I will never forget my first day. Elizabeth had me start on the first day of the annual Sidewalk Sale in August. I hadn’t worked retail in a long time and mistakenly wore a pair of very high heels. It was such a crazy day—non-stop the entire time. While I regretted my shoe choice, I remember finding the day invigorating and a reminder of how much I love retail. And shoes.
What’s your favorite thing about working here?
Aside from just feeling very grateful to work in such a fun, creative environment, I love our staff. Elizabeth has built a great team and it is a pleasure to work with each one of them.
Who’s your favorite designer that we carry?
Just one?! I’d have to say Elizabeth & James, Stuart Weitzman, Aquatalia and AGL.
What’s your go-to shoe trend?
I know a lot of women disagree, but I love a good ankle strap. I believe the secret to wearing any shoe is ankle support. Also one of the reasons I will always wear booties!
Are there any trends you can’t get behind?
No trend in particular, but I am not an overly feminine dresser. If it’s too floral, too feminine or too flirty, I’ll probably pass it up.
What’s your favorite pair you’ve acquired while working here?
I have a pair of taupe perforated suede Aquatalia booties that have just the right amount of “edge” but are super comfortable and go with everything. I’m tempted to buy a second pair just so that I never have to go without them!
